Date: 8 July 2013

modeFRONTIER optimization platform has been used in four out of eleven award winning applications announced today by IDC at ISC Conference in Leipzig    ESTECO technology wins all along the line at the HPC Innovation Excellence Awards, announced today at ISC Conference in Leipzig, Germany. modeFRONTIER optimization platform has been key to innovation in four of the eleven award winning applications in four different industrial sectors. The prize, promoted by IDC HPC User Forum, aims at showcasing success stories involving HPC in science and industry and helping other users better understand the benefits of adopting HPC and justify HPC investments, especially for SMBs.

In this perspective, the industrial cases presented by Alenia Aermacchi, Volvo Polestar Racing, Bottero SpA and Airworks-ESTECO, all using modeFRONTIER, ‘demonstrated a strong return on investment (ROI) and scientific innovation from the use of high performance computing,’ the HPC User Forum Steering Committee stated.

At Alenia Aermacchi, the optimization platform developed by ESTECO turned essential in enhancing aerodynamic performance by 2.5% while reducing wing weight in new generation planes.

In the case presented by Airworks and ESTECO, multidisciplinary collaboration in the assembly of wind power unit rotor has been streamlined by the newly released ESTECO Enterprise Suite, allowing for a faster process and considerable resource savings.

Bottero SpA, one of the world leaders in the glass industry, leveraged modeFRONTIER optimization platform to achieve the perfect balance between optimal geometry and mechanism stability.

Polestar, the Official Volvo Racing Team, exploited ESTECO’s software to quickly pinpoint the car configuration which grants the best performance for different circuits and operating conditions. A twice-successful application: besides winning the HPC Innovation Excellence Award, the team is currently leading drivers and manufacturers championship in STCC.
