glasstec / solarpeq 2010: Numerous Bystronic glass innovations

At glasstec / solarpeq 2010 the Bystronic glass Group presented numerous innovations in all core competences, as announced.

Visitors can also discover new machinery for the laminated glass manufacturing and the insulating glass manufacturing in the TOP SECRET area, which exclusively invited or registered guests are allowed to visit accompanied by the Bystronic glass sales staff.

An overview of the innovations: 1. Glass cutting: first’lamicut and key’sorter 



With immediate effect Bystronic glass can offer an innovative system solution for the effective and precise cutting and separating of laminated glass, float glass or special glass in its core competence glass cutting – the first’lamicut. The system impresses firstly because of its outstanding separating quality and secondly through its individuality: Thanks to a modular concept various tailor-made customer solutions with diverse options like edge deletion or remote access are available. The new Bystronic glass cutting machine works on continual duty making it suitable for large production capacities. The first’lamicut can be supplied as a stand-alone solution, in combination with the dynamic float glass cutting machine speed’cut or easily integrated into fully automated cutting solutions.



The new dynamic sorting system key’sorter produced by Bystronic glass provides a fully automated sorting sequence and creates fast cycle times in the process. With the key’sorter it is easy to adhere to the correct production sequence and to optimize the glass yield at the same time. Therefore the new sorting system significantly reduces the production costs. The key’sorter works with a pass through buffer together with an independent sorting in and sorting out system. A large intermediate buffer allows the decoupling of the up and downstream processes which maintains a continuous production. As a result of the multiple storage tools the existing floor space is optimized. 

2. Insulating glass manufacturing: flexspacer’twinapplicator and speed’sealer



Decades of experience and numerous pioneering developments make Bystronic glass a highly qualified warm edge expert. As the only provider, the corporate group can offer its customers automated solutions for all of the standard warm edge spacers. Visitors are for example able to see applications of the trendsetting TPS® technology as well as the Super Spacer® on stand – the latter with the new flexspacer'twinapplicator with two alternately functioning application heads.

This revolutionary, unique machine provides the complete non-interruptive production of double and triple insulating glass units using Super Spacer® type flexible spacers – even while equipping with material. The new flexspacer'twinapplicator is particularly suitable for order related manufacturing of insulating glass units with varying spacer widths, including the production of triple insulating glass units that require two different spacer widths.

The Bystronic glass Group is pleased to present a high-speed sealing machine for insulating glass units in the form of the speed'sealer. The new machine seals windows and facade elements at a maximum flow rate, whilst at the same time, offers the highest application speed. For the first time in the industry, it is now possible, even with different production conditions, to actively and consistently mix the two sealant material components, thanks to a dynamic mixer.

3. Laminated glass manufacturing: horizontal’washer and eco’convect 



The horizontal’washer manufactured by Bystronic glass makes the continuous cleaning and drying of glass plates even more efficient and ecological. The machine has been especially designed for laminated glass but has the flexibility to be used in other production areas such as automotive glass processing or solar technology. For optimum cleaning results the new horizontal glass plate washing machine works with six separate brush drives and an alternating brush rotation. 

Bystronic glass presents a revolutionary pre-nip system for the manufacturing of high quality laminated glasses of all kinds: The eco’convect is a completely unique heating and press system which works with significantly reduced cycle times and is also suitable for shaped formats and multifunctional glasses. With the eco’convect highly reflective, coated glasses can be processed together with float glass as well as with heat strengthened and tempered glass.

4. Solar technology: film’trimmer



The Bystronic glass film’trimmer enables automatic trimming of PVB films on rectangular glass formats after assembly or after the autoclave process. The innovative cold cutting process avoids any sticking of the film layers. The film’trimmer shows a consistent, even high trimming quality and processes PVB film up to 12-fold films with a total thickness of 4.6 millimetres. With a speed of up to more than 40 metres per minute the machine provides a reliable start to the trim cut on the free overhanging end of the film. The film’trimmer is suitable not only for photovoltaic module production but also for the laminated glass manufacturing in standard and customized sizes.
