Based on its recent analysis of the cut-resistant gloves market, Frost & Sullivan recognizes Banom with the 2013 North American Frost & Sullivan Award for Product Leadership.Unarguably superior to any competing products in the market, Banom's cut-resistant gloves go well beyond US and EU norm requirements to offer specialized protection to workers.
"Banom stands apart by producing cut-resistant gloves that pass through an application test rather than a standard cut test," said Frost & Sullivan Senior Research Analyst Anita Pamu. "Its patented yarns are developed to protect workers from the hazards associated with a particular application or end use. In fact, Frost & Sullivan's 2012 research found that Banom's products for the glass and sheet metal industries have a proven track record with Fortune 500 companies, helping reduce injury rates and total spending on employees. Industry participants strongly associated the brand with quality and performance."
Banom uses only high tenacity filament (HTF™) yarns for its cut-resistant products. In contrast with spun yarns, which comprise individual fibers that are twisted into yarns, HTF yarns utilize a bundle of continuous fibers that together have higher tensile strength and can therefore resist breaking when exposed to sheet metal edges. The company has created several yarns to target different end applications. For the sheet metal industry, Banom uses Abratex® (Duratex®) and MaxPly® Dyneema®. ArmorPlate™ is used for protection against knife blades, while TriMax® Dyneema® is used for razor blades. The company also uses Kevlar® or glass composites for cut-resistant gloves for the sheet glass industry.
Banom also ensures that other product aspects such as grip, comfort and dexterity are not compromised. Its cut-resistant gloves offer additional protection such as chemical resistance, liquid protection and thermal resistance, and come with a variety of coatings that are suitable for different working environments. Available in a wider range of sizes than competing products, Banom cut-resistant gloves allow workers to achieve a custom fit and perform tasks that require a high level of dexterity.
Other unique customer value enhancements Banom provides include treating gloves with Sanifresh® to increase resistance to bacteria growth. The company also offers its customers a cleaning program to suit their budget and inspection criteria. The Bantex® reconditioning system maintains a product's safety and integrity and returns a bacteria-free product for reuse. This process extends the lifetime of cut-resistant gloves, which reduces cost in the long run.
Further, Banom offers a dispensing and collection system to facilitate the process of reuse. The Trackpro® system is a vending or dispensing system that can maintain and control inventory movement. Custom-configured for a company's individual product and usage needs, these dispensing systems allow companies to record usage, limit the amount dispensed per person, and restrict available products based on the application in which they are to be used. A Bantex reclamation center can be connected to the Trackpro for the collection of dirty gloves and sleeves.
"The Trackpro dispensing and collection system provides a traceable mechanism to ensure that the dispensed products are returned for cleaning," noted Pamu. "Banom, therefore, strives to provide a complete solution to its customers and helps them achieve cost-savings."
For its commitment to innovation and its leadership in the cut-resistant gloves market, Banom is the worthy recipient of the 2013 Frost & Sullivan Product Leadership Award in the North American cut-resistant gloves market. Each year, Frost & Sullivan presents this award to the company that has demonstrated innovation in product features and functionality that provides enhanced quality and higher value to customers. The award recognizes the rapid acceptance such innovation finds in the marketplace.
Frost & Sullivan Best Practices Awards recognize companies in a variety of regional and global markets for demonstrating outstanding achievement and superior performance in areas such as leadership, technological innovation, customer service, and strategic product development. Industry analysts compare market participants and measure performance through in-depth interviews, analysis, and extensive secondary research in order to identify best practices in the industry.
Banom® was started in 1987 and today produces cut-resistant gloves and sleeves for the sheet metal, glass, paper and food industries.
We are unique in our belief that there are three types of cut hazards:
- Knife blades
- Sheet metal
Each edge presents a different hazard and the protection needed is specific for each application. We utilize HTF (High Tenacity Filament)® yarns as our base platform for protection. These yarns combine high tensile strength fibers in order to provide maximum cut protection. These include MaxPly® Dyneema®, Abratex®, and ArmorPlateTM. Banom supplies end-use customers through a limited group of distributors that have been specially trained to handle cut hazard problems. Working in conjunction with our distributors, Banom has a consistent track record of reducing laceration rates as well as total spend. Banom offers additional services: TrackproTM product dispensing and Bantex® glove and sleeve cleaning. Combining Banom products with these services, results in safety, savings, and sustainability.
