Evan J. Mellott, a 2001 Lampeter-Strasburg High School graduate and member of Willow Street Boy Scout Troop 58, has earned the Eagle Scout Award.

Mellott, son of Blair Mellott, Willow Street, and Nadine Leaman, Lancaster, has served his troop as librarian, assistant patrol leader, patrol leader and troop guide.He is also a member of the Order of the Arrow Wunita Gokhos Lodge No. 39.

His Eagle Scout project involved repairing the Hans Herr House in Willow Street. He and his volunteer team applied water and sealant to doors, window frames and shutters. They also repaired and installed screening in the building.

In scouting, Mellott has attended summer camps for the past seven years, participated in two programs at the National High Adventure Sea Base in Florida, and completed historic trail hikes in Gettysburg and Williamsburg, Va., among other towns.

In addition, Mellott graduated from the Lancaster County Career and Technical Center. He works for Willow Valley Retirement Communities.
