David Briggs takes over as new CEO of The VELUX Group from 1st January 2018, following the retirement of former CEO Jørgen Tang-Jensen. He will be based at VELUX Group head office in Hørsholm, Denmark.

The change in leadership was first announced at the VELUX World Conference in September 2017. The VELUX World Conference takes place every four years and sets out the strategy for the coming period.

At the Conference, Briggs laid out an ambitious growth strategy for the coming four years, designed to build on VELUX’s excellent performance over the previous period, which saw the company deliver its best-ever results in 2016.

David Briggs is a 25-year veteran of VELUX and its sister company Altaterra, and most recently worked as VELUX Group Senior Vice President for Sales. In this position, he was a member of the VELUX Management Group and played an important role in the company’s positive performance over the past two years.

Formerly, Briggs has held a number of key management positions within the VELUX Group, including as General Manager of the sales company in Great Britain, VELUX Great Britain. He was also responsible for building VELUX’s sister company Altaterra from the ground up. Today, Altaterra has sales in over 30 countries.

"It’s a real honour for me to take over the helm of this great company. VELUX is in great financial shape, with a strong brand and an excellent culture to build on. I’m looking forward to taking VELUX forward and capitalising on the great opportunities we have to grow the company further. Daylight and fresh air never go out of fashion, and we’ll continue to bring them through the roofs of homes, commercial and public buildings all over the world", says David Briggs.

David Briggs is British, 52 years of age, has two children from his former marriage, and currently lives in Copenhagen with his partner, Anna.
