Asahi Glass of Japan has successfully developed inlaid “Energy-saving Glass”. Energy conservation can be achieved simply by inlaying the glass on the office windows from inside.

The glass is expected to go on sale from October 2012. It is reported that the "Energy-saving glass" is a special glass category in which the glass surface is processed with metal film. By leaving an air layer about 1 cm between the windowpane and the energy-saving glass, out door heat can be prevented from entering the room, which reduces the energy use by air-conditioners and central heating by 30%. In addition, replacing ordinary energy-saving window pane usually requires putting up scaffolding outside the building. However, this inlaid energy-saving glass can be installed on the window frame using a metal frame just from indoor.
