“We’ll continue to produce, with simple honesty, what can meet the needs of the times,” Asahi Glass Co.

President Takuya Shimamura, 58, said of the role his firm should fulfill as the world’s largest glass manufacturer.   



Shimamura’s favorite phrase is, “Add a few functions to glass products.” Put another way, glass is something like a good supporting actor who is not as conspicuous as the star.
