Acoustic interior fit-out for new 'Baker Street Quarter' building

Date: 9 September 2013

SAS International, a leading manufacturer of interior fit-out products, is pleased to announce it has supplied its suspended metal ceilings and System 8000 partitioning to the new Saudi Aramco offices, situated in London’s ‘Baker Street Quarter’.

The new offices occupy the fourth and fifth floor of British Land’s new 10 Portman Square building, designed by architects Jestico+Whiles. The Cat B fit out of the 33,700 sq ft space was designed by main contractor Maris Interiors. The main office areas feature white SAS System 330 acoustic metal ceilings with black ceiling tiles installed in the meeting rooms for a sleek and contemporary finish.

Over 200 linear metres of SAS System 8000 single glazed partitioning, with +/-25mm two part deflection heads, and 60 hinged glass doors create client facing meeting rooms, employee offices, acoustic screens and hallway doors. The employee’s offices also feature curved glass enabling the office partitioning to flow around the building without any 90 degree corners.

The open plan offices have been subdivided using full height glass screens, improving privacy between departments while still allowing natural light to flow through. To provide fire protection for the internal staircase, 25 linear metres of SAS System 8000 30/30 firescreens with +/-25mm deflection were also installed with fire rated doorsets.

System 8000 head tracks blend seamlessly to allow integration with the System 330 ceiling or wall and floors which is a key consideration to allow for future office change. It is also possible to provide a clean integration with drywall using trims to create a part glazed, part drywall configuration.

Malcolm Stamper at SAS International comments; “It is important to consider how partitioning integrates with its surrounding materials, not only to make sure acoustic control is maintained but to allow the ability to reconfigure office space, if required, for future tenants or company re-structure.

“Whether creating private meeting rooms or separate offices in an open-plan building, fully glazed frameless partitioning systems not only combine design aesthetics with outstanding fire and acoustic performance, they also allow for natural light and ventilation to flow through the building.”

Meeting performance demands of commercial offices across the world, SAS International's range of integrating fit-out products includes acoustic suspended ceiling systems, partitioning systems and doors, energy efficient chilled beams and ceilings, radiant and trench heating and architectural metalwork.
