StyleGuard® patio door resists impact from windborne debris resulting from hurricanes and other extreme weather conditionsInternational Builders' Show 2012Booth #W3517AUSTELL, Ga.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--International Builders’ Show – YKK AP America, the leader in manufacturing high quality architectural products, today announced the StyleGuard® Impact-Resistant Patio Door to protect homes that are subject to hurricanes and other extreme weather conditions.

Tested to the American Society for Testing and Materials’ standards (ASTM) and Miami-Dade protocols, the door is ideal for coastal areas with the ability to resist impact from windborne debris.

StyleGuard patio doors allow homeowners to add strength to their homes without compromising style. To protect against the elements, the doors are equipped with internal reinforcement and a .090 interlayer of laminated glass. This provides for maximum impact resistance while low-E and low conductive spacers allow for optimum energy efficiency. They also include precision-fitted corrosion-resistant hardware which provides for lasting durability in even the harshest of environments. With wide stiles and rails, StyleGuard patio doors incorporate architectural detailing on door panels, modeling the French Door style. They also offer a wide spectrum of design options including size, color, grille, glass efficiency and style, as well as six different window shape options.

“Coastal region homeowners have an added stress when designing their home due to hurricane and extreme weather threats. With our StyleGuard patio doors, they don’t need to make any aesthetic sacrifices during the design process,” said Craig Marple, residential sales and marketing manager for YKK AP America. “The goal was to make a beautiful patio door that can withstand the toughest conditions, and I’m proud to say that YKK AP accomplished just that.”

The doors also come equipped with the head bolt standard for additional security, and can be installed with environmentally sensitive “turtle glass.” StyleGuard patio doors are available for purchase today in Florida, Georgia, Alabama, South Carolina, North Carolina and Tennessee.
