Viet Nam is a major partner of the Czech Republic in Asia and thus a priority in Czech economic cooperation policy, said Jaroslava Kubu, head of a Czech business delegation at a symposium held in Ha Noi on Oct. 19.

At the event, which was held on the sidelines of the Viet Nam International Industrial Fair 2006, Jaroslava Kubu introduced some cooperation projects between the two countries in the coming time, which include the mining of materials for the glass industry in southern central Viet Nam, the building of vocational training centre and small hydro-power plants, and training in environment at the Thua Thien-Hue University.

Addressing the symposium, Lukas Hlavaty, First Secretary in charge of economy-trade of the Czech Embassy in Viet Nam said that trade exchange between the two countries has constantly increased from 42 million USD in 1998 to 65 million USD in 2000 and over 100 million in 2004.
