Imagine a tower, whose surface area will be covered with glass and metal will be equal to 17 football fields.

The statistics that will be drawn up by the curtain-walling are equally impressive: some 83,600 sq m (20.7 acres) of glass and 27,900 sq m of metal will go into cladding the massive structure. We are talking about Burj Dubai.

The Burj Dubai is an enormous project . This monstrous project will dwarf any other skyscraper attempted in mankind's history! The expected completion date is set on 2008, but the exact statistics are being held secret. Upon its completion in 2008 the Burj Dubai will likely become the tallest building in the world. It will beat out the current title holder, Taipei 101 in Taiwan, as well as numerous other proposals including the Freedom Tower at New York City's World Trade Center and the Shanghai World Financial Center. In addition, it will assume the title of the world's tallest structure, surpassing tallest free standing structure on land Toronto CN Tower and the guyed KVLY-TV mast in North Dakota, the latter setting a minimum height for the tower at almost 630 m.

The iconic spiral tower will offer premium residential and retail space and will feature a boutique hotel (Armani Hotel), exclusive corporate suites offices, serviced residential suites, apartments, four luxurious pools, several restaurants, exclusive resident’s lounge and 15,000 sq ft of fitness facilities, recreational and entertainment facilities, and an observatory, which is planned for the 124th level, offering spectacular views of the city. The Armani Hotel Dubai includes 160 guest rooms and suites, restaurants and a spa covering more than 40,000 sq ms. Above the hotel are 144 luxury residential apartments all designed by Giorgio Armani and fully furnished with a specially designed line of products from the Armani Casa home furnishings collection.
