Steklarna Hrastnik has been recognized as one of the best companies in Europe

Date: 13 July 2015

At the end of this May, Steklarna Hrastnik ranked amongst 110 prize-winning enterprises within the framework of the European Business Award – EBA.

In the category Entrepreneur of the Year 2014/2015, the company received the title of Slovenian National Champion.  This achievement is even more important by virtue of the fact that 24,000 companies entered the competition last year.

The EBA award is granted for business penetration and ethics in the European business community and to the most outstanding companies and entrepreneurs of the EU member states. The category of Entrepreneur of the Year describes the management model leading to the transformation of Steklarna Hrastnik. The basic starting point of this model is that every company can be restored to life. The driving force of the company in this process is all the involved people who need to feel respected and must be communicated with openly in order to achieve the expected results. Working with people, relations and leading by example should never come to an end. When this machinery created by the model starts working, people start to feel responsible for the company. This starts a snowball effect driving the company forwards. This was also reflected in the business results of the glassworks. In 2014 the company registered a profit of 4.4 million EUR and plans a 48% profit improvement for this year.

You can find more information on the transformation of Steklarna Hrastnik in the publication issued by the European Business Award (EBA) entitled »What are the best European companies like?« The article describes why the employees represent an important part of the success and why it is necessary to invest in the development of their talents.
