The company’s net sales reached 122 billion TL in the first six months of the year while the share of international sales in total sales stood at 61%. During the same period, Şişecam invested 12 billion TL, and its exports reached 464 million USD. During the period, the company produced 2.8 million tons of glass, 2.2 million tons of soda ash and 2 million tons of industrial raw materials.
Can Yücel: "Our priorities were efficiency, cost and financial management, and operational agility"
In his assessment of the first half of the year, Şişecam CEO Can Yücel stated: "We have navigated a period marked by ongoing uncertainties in the global economy, as well as continued volatility in energy and logistics costs. Throughout this period, we remained focused on sustaining our operational and financial performance while continuing to evaluate new opportunities, leveraging our global production network, diversified customer portfolio, and agile management approach. In the first half of the year, our priorities were enhancing efficiency, managing costs and financing effectively, and strengthening operational agility. In line with our commitment to maintaining a strong balance sheet and healthy cash flow, we placed a strong emphasis on cash generation and liquidity management. We maintained our disciplined approach to working capital management and continued to advance our simplification efforts. At the same time, we focused on optimizing the management of our funding sources and cash assets. The Eurobond issuance we successfully completed in the first quarter, backed by strong investor demand, together with our collaborations with international financial institutions, has further strengthened our ability to support short- to medium-term liquidity management while advancing our long-term strategic objectives."
Coated glass capacity increased by 17 percent with the Tarsus investment
In the first quarter of the year, Şişecam further expanded its value-added product portfolio by nearly doubling its coated glass capacity in Europe through the commissioning of two new coated glass lines at its flat glass facilities in Bulgaria and Italy. In the second quarter, the Company commissioned a new coated glass line in Tarsus with an annual production capacity of 7 million square meters. With this investment, Şişecam increased its total coated glass capacity by 17%, reaching 48.1 million square meters per year. The Company also aims to further strengthen its global footprint in coated glass with a new line in India, which will have an annual capacity of 4.5 million square meters and is scheduled to become operational by the end of the year.
Commissioned one of the world's largest flat glass production complexes
Şişecam completed and commissioned the TR9 line at its greenfield flat glass investment in Tarsus during the first quarter, adding 432 thousand tons of annual gross production capacity. This strategic investment has positioned the Tarsus flat glass facility as one of the world’s largest flat glass production complexes.
In addition, Şişecam successfully completed the planned cold repair of its furnace and laminated glass line at its Northern Italy Flat Glass Plant and resumed production as scheduled. Through this proactive maintenance and downtime management strategy, the Company effectively optimized capacity utilization across its other flat glass production facilities in Europe, ensuring a balanced and efficient allocation of production capacity.
First European glass packaging facility in Hungary prepares for production
Şişecam has reached a significant milestone in its Hungary investment, which represents the Company’s first glass packaging production facility in Europe. The first furnace, with an annual gross production capacity of 198 thousand tons, has been successfully ignited and trial production has commenced. Once fully operational, the facility is expected to further strengthen Şişecam’s operational footprint and enhance its ability to serve customers across the European market, supporting the Company’s long-term growth objectives in the region.
Progress in US growth plans
While continuing its natural soda ash activities in the USA, Şişecam has reached the final stage of the permitting process for its Pacific Soda investment in the same region. The company is continuing its efforts to advance the investment under the most favorable terms, taking into account the changing market conditions.
Renewable energy capacity to reach 106 MW by year-end
Continuing its renewable energy investments in line with its carbon-neutral production target, Şişecam has added a new 20 MW facility in Manisa to its previously commissioned 25 MW installed solar power plants. As a result, the company's total installed solar power capacity increased to 45 MW. With the new 61 MW solar power plant investment planned to be commissioned in Kars by the end of this year, the total capacity will increase to 106 MW.
Export leadership and global achievements
With its export performance of 938 million USD in 2025, Şişecam was once again selected as the export leader of its sector by the Turkish Exporters Assembly. The company also received the “Best Deal” award at the GTR Awards 2025 for its Working Capital Note transaction, recognized as the world's first digitally negotiable instrument.
Recognized as the “Best in Turkiye” by World Finance for its corporate governance practices, Şişecam has published its sustainability report, compliant with the Turkish Sustainability Reporting Standards (TSRS), after undergoing an independent assurance process.
Priorities for the remainder of the year
Assessing the outlook for the remainder of the year, Can Yücel said: “As we move through the remainder of the year, we will continue to adapt swiftly to evolving market conditions while remaining focused on initiatives that strengthen our long-term competitiveness. We will further expand our efficiency programs, increase the share of value-added products in our portfolio, strengthen our presence in new markets, and advance our sustainability agenda. At the same time, we will continue to reinforce our balance sheet and preserve our financial resilience.”
