Over 500 Profile 22 Optima Flush Casement Windows were installed in a private housing development in Whalley Range, Manchester.

Housing developer Laurus Homes, a profit-for-purpose housing developer that’s part of Trafford Housing Trust, secured planning permission to build 13 four bedroom houses and 16 two bedroom apartments in Whalley Range near Manchester. The main contractor for the project was Lane End Group, the market leader in the construction and housing sector in the North West.

Profile 22 Optima Flush Casement Windows deliver specifications required.

The site was on land formerly owned by the prestigious independent school St Bede’s College and situated near a local conservation area. It meant the development needed to be sympathetic to the character of the local architecture.

Quality was also a critical factor.

Nick Anderson, Development Manager at Laurus Homes, said: “At Laurus Homes, we demand the highest quality specifications for every part of the homes we develop. The windows we choose are no different. After ensuring the windows are code and planning compliant, we look for quality and innovation as well as durability. Most importantly, we require our windows to be easy to use, easy to maintain and essentially a worry-free component for our customers.”

Jonny Reynolds, Technical Director at Kingfisher Windows, said: “The Optima Flush Casement Window offers the perfect solution for developments in areas protected by conservation orders that need a window that replicates the 19th-century timber window design, whilst offering modern features and benefits.”

Like all Profile 22 products the Optima Flush Casement Window System is produced to BS EN 12608 and manufactured to BS EN ISO 9001. It adheres to the requirements of the Environmental Management System BS EN ISO 14001 and the Responsible Sourcing standard BES 6001. The manufacturing facility operates a health and safety programme in line with OHSAS 18001 to ensure a safe environment for employees, supply chain partners and residents.

The windows for the Scholars Walk development were fabricated in grey on white to deliver a striking but architecturally sensitive appearance.

A challenging installation schedule

Construction on the Scholars Walk development began in November 2018 and concluded in July 2019. With over 500 windows needing to be installed over this time period, all Kingfisher Windows’ experience in working on large scale developments was required. Jonny said: “We believe the best results come from in working in partnership with all the other trades on site and keeping lines of communication open at all times.”

A new development in one of the most sought-after neighbourhoods in Manchester.

The completed project brings much- needed family housing to Manchester. Jonny concluded: “We were delighted to be part of a project building housing for this area and we’re very proud of the high quality results achieved.”
