PPG presents technology seminar at China (Shanghai) International Optics Fair 2012

PPG Industries presented a seminar on optical materials and technologies today at the China (Shanghai) International Optics Fair (SIOF 2012).

More than 100 representatives of spectacle frame and lens manufacturers exchanged ideas on optical industry trends, new product development concepts and innovative optical materials and technologies.

"The seminar serves as a platform for the exchange of ideas and information among Chinese optical educators and industry experts, as well as an opportunity to present PPG's leading optical material, lens and coating technologies to the China market," said John Liebenguth, PPG global director of sales and marketing for optical materials. During the seminar, PPG showcased its unique optical material and sun lens technologies, such as TRIVEX(R) material and NXT(TM) sun lenses, through engaging presentations and discussions.

“China is one of the most promising eyewear markets in the world,” said Vivian Waters, PPG director of optical materials business development, Asia/Pacific. “Through this seminar, we hope to offer local and international optical manufacturers a forum for exploring PPG’s optical technologies and innovations. We strive to support manufacturers in educating industry partners and developing creative, high-quality products that satisfy consumers’ needs.”

SIOF 2012 attendees can learn more about Trivex material and NXT sun lenses by visiting the booths of PPG’s partners, such as Hoya, Baodao Optical, Megakingdom Technology, Universe Optical and Guangzhou ILT Optical.

Organized by China Optometric and Optical Association (COOA), the body that governs the optical industry of China, and China Light Industrial Corp. for Foreign Economic and Technical Cooperation (CLETC), the state-owned enterprise running international trade in China, the China (Shanghai) International Optics Fair (SIOF) is the spring session of one of the largest exhibitions for optical products in Asia. SIOF 2012 is taking place at the Shanghai World Expo Exhibition and Convention Center, Feb. 22-24.
