Pleotint Forms Partnership with Manko Window Systems

Date: 23 October 2015

Pleotint, LLC, has announced a sales and distribution partnership with Manko Windows Systems, Inc., that will enable the company to offer self-tinting Suntuitive® Glass with its full line of new and retrofit products.

Kevin Bahner, national sales manager at Manko Window Systems, said his company is always looking for glass products that can help provide energy savings, efficient daylighting, and comfortable living and work spaces for the end user.“Suntuitive Glass provides all these benefits year round, but what sets it apart from other dynamic glass products is its simple, straightforward installation, which is often overlooked,” Bahner said. “Because there are no wires or controls to install, it also keeps installation costs low. These are all key aspects that interest homeowners, building owners, and glazing contractors, and we are thrilled to be able to offer this dynamic glass with our residential and commercial products.”

Self-tinting Suntuitive Glass gradually darkens in response to rising temperatures caused by direct sunlight, then cools as the sun moves across the sky, returning to a clear, neutral state in cloudy or dark environmental conditions, as shown in the photos from left to right.

When paired with low-e glass in an insulating glass unit, Suntuitive Glass provides the best overall performance for U-value and solar heat gain. Suntuitive Glass can produce visible light transmittance of as high as 60 percent in a clear state, solar heat gain coefficients of as low as 0.11 in a darkened state, and reduce heating-, cooling-, and lighting-related energy costs.

For more than 25 years, Manko Window Systems has been manufacturing architectural aluminum windows, entrances, storefronts, and curtain walls. Manko operates in more than 28 states, including warehouse and fabrication centers in Manhattan, Kansas; Denver; and Des Moines, Iowa. The company currently produces 29 types of commercial window systems, 18 types of entrance doors, six storefront systems, and six curtain wall systems, in addition to tempered and insulated glass.
