For a second year, Pilkington's internal employee magazine Pilkington Focus has won an Award of Excellence in Europe's most prestigious corporate communications competition, the Communicators in Business (CIB) Awards.

The publication has been nominated for the overall Class and Gold awards, due to be announced in May 2002.

Attracting more than a thousand entries, the awards celebrate 'the best in business', with nominees from a whole host of blue chip companies across the UK.

The judges, themselves specialists in corporate communications said: "Pilkington Focus oozes professionalism and is an excellent example of effective staff communication -it is a pity that many more companies do not put as much effort into it as Pilkington."

The judges acknowledged the complexity of producing a publication in 10 languages and the importance of communicating to employees in their own native languages adding, "Pilkington Focus is an example to other world-wide groups."
