Montréal, the leading Canadian city for welcoming international conventions in North America, has recently started a glazing renovation of its landmark convention center, Palais des Congrès, in downtown Montreal.

The highly reputable Palais des Congrès, which hosted 207 events and brought in 660,000 visitors, generating economic spin-offs of more than $200 million in 2005 alone, has been renovated with 30,000 SQFT of high performance sealed glass units protected with DFI’s low-maintenance nanocoating Diamon-Fusion®, supplied by DFI’s Canadian Licensee PRELCO, as one of the building’s special features showcased in this renovation. The Palais des Congrès covers 18,590 square meters (200,000 square feet) of multifunctional spaces. Diamon-Fusion® was specified by architectural plans to be added to the building for easy-to-clean purposes and added brilliance. The signature of the new architecture clearly concretizes the ideals of light and transparency.

PRELCO, 50-year company based in Rivere-du-Loup, Quebec, is a leading Canadian manufacturer of specialty glass for architectural design, industrial, and transportation applications.

Bill Marchitello, Director of Marketing and Business Development of PRELCO, reported: “This is a landmark building in Montreal and we are very proud to supply the glass treated with DFI’s nano-coating which will clearly enhance the complex and protect it against adverse weathering conditions.”

Guillermo Seta, DFI’s Vice President and Executive Director of DFI Global Operations, stated: “Every time our coating is specified in any architectural project, we know the building will get tangible benefits; but being selected and having it applied at the Palais des Congrès in Montreal is certainly very special.”
