An Open Door to Quality from Cutting Edge

Date: 30 July 2012

Leading industry fabricator, Cutting Edge Ltd has recently achieved the PAS 23 and PAS 24 industry accreditations with BSI in relation to all pvcu doors within the range.

With an eye on future market direction and any prospective directives to be introduced regarding CE marking, senior management wanted to ensure that their customers would be in an advantageous position in relation to both quality and sales generation.

After rigorous testing the company achieved the new industry standards with BSI which will provide a number of benefits for installers including superior security standards. Once CE marking has been introduced, it will eventually become essential criteria for the industry where all products must convert from national standards to European standards. It is expected that this will not be an easy task for all manufacturers because of the stringent requirements attached to certification.

As the industry gears up for change, fabricators must look to accommodate new legislation. The sector has previously shown its ability to adapt to the introduction of new legislative measures however the launch of CE Marking and the new European EN standard will have a significant impact. Failure to comply with the new industry standards could have far reaching consequences for those businesses who fail to see its importance. Cutting Edge customers will be in the enviable position of providing consumers with an advanced product that already achieves the requirements for CE marking. Whilst the company has always been recognised for providing quality products combined with excellent services, management consider this will be an advantage in today’s fiercely competitive industry.

Shirley Peake, Managing Director comments, “The symbols and standards of credibility have never been so important to fabricators, installers and the end user. Everyone requires as many advantages as possible and to a certain degree there are particular trading standards that installers consider a pre-requisite before even purchasing from a fabricator.”

As one of the leading manufacturers to produce doors and windows using Profile 22’s system, products from the Cutting Edge range are already recognised for their quality. It is considered that the PAS certification offers customers significant substantiation when approaching homeowners. The ‘mark’ of quality has always been of paramount importance to the Cutting Edge team with a number of industry accreditations gained some time ago. Customers of the company have utilised the Kitemarks, BS 7412 for windows made from PVC-u extruded hollow profile and BS 7950/7412 which caters for enhanced security performance of casement and tilt and turn windows for the domestic market, which have helped to secure sales.

These BSI accreditations, management believe, have been fundamental in helping customers to convince homeowners regarding quality guarantees, which ultimately have led to positive results for all. All British Industry Standards including PAS and Kitemarks gained by the company were easily achieved despite rigorous testing procedures. Security, operation, strength and weather performance were all crucial elements that were passed along with air permeability, watertightness and wind resistance. The assessment process to achieve the standard licenses involved testing Cutting Edge products to ensure that all required levels in terms of performance and quality could be met. Quality management systems were also evaluated with quality control and internal reporting systems thoroughly checked to ensure they would pass the exacting standards.

Shirley Peake comments, “We consider quality standards vital elements which help to demonstrate our commitment to our customers. This is something the team at Cutting Edge is dedicated to maintain. Customers have come to rely upon the products and services we supply.” She continues, “The industry standards are tough but exceptionally valuable being critical to the continued success of this business, as there can be no room for uncertainty when it comes to the products we offer.”

The PAS 23 and PAS 24 accomplishments serve to provide customer satisfaction with the team having a proactive approach to product development, production and support services. Management are committed to developing the company in line with market developments and customer need. Shirley Peake concludes, “Our customers have added assurance that we offer complete product confidence through the credibility and integrity that certification provides. We shall continue to evaluate and adapt our certification to meet the needs of our customers as the market changes.”
