In response to the growing demand for doors with ever larger areas of glass, narrow sight-lines and high levels of insulation, steel systems specialist Schueco Jansen has introduced the Janisol Lift-and-Slide door to provide a complete, cost-effective solution.

Available in a wide range of polyester powder coated colours, this new door allows internal and external spaces to merge together to create a single living environment.

The advanced design of the thermally insulated steel profiles enables the door to have a leaf/frame width of only 113.5 mm and a meeting stile that is just 95 mm wide. Depth measurements are similarly minimal – perimeter frame: 185 mm, leaf: 80 mm – yet the system can accommodate double- or even triple-glazed units up to 57 mm thick delivering Uw values as low as 0.9W/m2K. The result is a sleek, elegant door that allows maximum light penetration without sacrificing thermal values.

The door also features a new bottom-threshold profile made of high-quality glass-fibre-reinforced plastic; this provides an easy-access threshold construction while again ensuring optimum thermal insulation. Possible door configurations include two-, three- and four-leaves with various combinations of sliding and fixed elements. Maximum leaf weight is up to 400 kg, although an optional additional roller carriage increases this to 600 kg.

Despite their large format (leaf widths up to 4,270 mm and heights up to 3,210 mm), Janisol Lift-and-Slide doors are very easy to operate by means of stylish handles in either silver anodised aluminium or stainless steel. Turning the handle 180o disengages the multi-point locking system and raises the door leaf on its rollers ready for sliding.

When the door is closed and locked the rollers are retracted, compressing the seals and allowing the door’s weight to be distributed equally along the length of the threshold. This action enhances the weather-sealing and removes the weight from the running gear, so ensuring that the door continues to perform perfectly year after year.
