From the Middle Ages right into the 18th century, the guards on the “Neustädter Tor” decided who was allowed to enter the town of Gießen.

Today, the shopping centre with the same name in the immediate vicinity of the gate which gave it its name, is recognized in its own way as an attractive entry to a lively university, culture and shopping town. The imposing new four-storey building convinces not least thanks to its outstanding interior design, for which no less than 40,000 square metres of plasterboard and fire-check wallboard from the interior construction professionals Rigips were used.
