Introducing Intelligent Glass Design

Date: 18 December 2015

With the new version of Smart-Builder’s Smart-Glass designer, you can design virtually any piece of glass, and fast! Smart-Builder recognised the need for a simple, easy-to-use glass designer, so they have taken Smart-Glass to the next level.

You can now design any shape, add your processing and then select your glass unit make up, whether it is monolithic, tempered, double-glazed or a custom laminate. The best part about the designer is that you don’t need to be a CAD or computer expert to use it. A realistic drawing of your glass is displayed and updated on screen in real-time as you design, and you can simply click on the drawing to edit measurements. To add a cut-out, all you need to do is drag-and-drop from your custom cut-out library or enter a new cut-out on the fly. Meanwhile, an interactive blow-up of the cut-out makes for easy editing, even on your tablet or iPad.

The Smart-Glass designer has seen immediate success in the installation market, and it has been referred to as a revolution for glass fabrication and glass manufacturing companies. In early 2016, Smart-Glass will be made available as an online plugin, acting as a portal for glass manufacturers to quote and sell glass online, via their website. “The speed and ease with which glass orders can be entered, is going to drastically improve efficiency and reduce human error. Glass production companies can now move directly from sales to production, it is a win-win situation, where both the customer and producer will benefit significantly,” commented David Brennan, Managing Director of Smart-Builder Ltd. With export interfaces to LiSEC, A+W, BiTEC, HANIC and more... it is easy to see why Smart-Glass is set to make waves throughout the glass industry.

The Smart-Glass designer comes included with Smart-Toolbox, Smart-Builder’s ERP software for sales and invoicing, and will be available as an extra module for Smart-Design and Smart-Web users. It also compliments and interacts intelligently with Smart-Builder’s existing glass design modules (Shower, Splashback, Shopfront and Balustrade), allowing the user to move glass between these modules for greater control or ease of re-ordering.

Glass design software is set to become a benchmark for the future, and hand-drawn paper-based glass design a thing of the past, so join us now and get ahead of the game.
