Guardian Launches New SunGuard Glass Website (sunguardglass.com) Added Resources and Advanced Tools Help Architects, Others Build With Light

Date: 12 April 2013

Guardian has enhanced its advanced architectural glass website – www.sunguardglass.com – with improved organization and usability, improved search functions and industry-leading tools to better meet the needs of the architectural glass community.

The upgraded site has new drop-down menus organized by five key topic areas – Products, Projects, Tools & Resources, Supply Network and About SunGuard – helping architects, glaziers, fabricators and additional visitors quickly find the information they need to understand and specify glass. And, the site’s expanded tools and resources enable users to better view and select glass for performance and aesthetics.

“Our performance comparison tool has been redesigned, making it easier than ever to sort and compare performance data from more than 200 standard IGU compositions,” said Chris Dolan, director, Commercial Glass Marketing, Guardian Industries. “And, our new Glass Appearance selector lets you choose a float glass substrate and coating based on how a certain product combination will look, comparing the transmitted and reflected glass appearance across multiple product combinations.”

Sunguardglass.com also features the popular Guardian Building Energy Calculator tool that compares annual energy costs for a variety of glazing types in locations throughout North America and Latin America.

The relaunch included a comprehensive evaluation of the existing website, including interviews with architects and key customers to ensure the new site would be the most comprehensive resource available to industry and glass professionals.

“This site was redesigned with the architectural design community in mind. Our collection of product evaluation tools, specification information and technical resources has been reorganized to make Guardian’s vast library of tools and information accessible with just a few clicks,” said Dolan. “An easier-to-use project search feature mirrors our one-of-a-kind Smartphone Glass app so you can explore SunGuard projects around the corner – or around the world.”

Projects can also be searched by other attributes, including building type, product and by fabricators or glaziers who worked on the project.

Of particular interest to architects and building owners is the expanded section on Green Building and LEED information. “We really tried to make the site a one-stop shop for our key influencers,” said Dolan. “We want to help architects and building owners appreciate how our glass and glazings contribute to sustainable projects that can not only receive LEED certification today, but also help meet the net zero standards of tomorrow.”

These are just the first of several enhancements to the site. “We’ll have even more tools coming online soon,” said Dolan.

Guardian’s SunGuard product line includes a wide variety of low-E coatings and advanced glazings for commercial applications that offer excellent solar control, a wide variety of colors and performance levels. SunGuard products provide innovative, leading solutions for appearance, economics and energy efficiency, and are available through an international network of Guardian certified Select Fabricators.

The new website was produced in partnership with Carton Donofrio Partners of Baltimore.
