Glass in a new light - Fascinating room effects with glass and LED

Date: 26 February 2014

Glass and light belong inseparably together - in a variety of ways. Because glass not only lets light pass through it, it can also provide it with a perfect setting.

A new dimension in the combination of glass and light has been made possible by the further development of illuminants. As a result, o impressive room and light productions can be created by the combination of glass with LEDs.

Transparency is the most important quality of glass. Its light permeability makes it possible to stay in bright rooms protected from the wind and weather. But besides its functionality, glass also has an aesthetic component; for example, the unique brightness of coloured glass has already been made use for centuries for design purposes. Besides the direct application of colour to glass, the combination with coloured light opens up fascinating use possible applications. A decisive role in this connection is played by the development of the Light Emitting Diode (LED), which has led to one of the most radical changes in recent decades in the area of lighting technology - and thus also in the fields of architectural illumination and in design. The control of brightness and colours makes it possible, for example, to present glass in changing lighting moods.
