Glass firm's Basildon factory closes

A factory in Essex owned by Pilkington Glass has closed with the loss of 30 jobs.The company said alternative employment was being sought at its other sites in the UK for workers at the Paycocke Road factory in Basildon.

It said a new facility producing glass for solar energy manufacturers would create 130 jobs in the St Helens area.
