100,000 consumers voted in the People's Choice Award category for the DUFTSTAR of hearts in response to an appeal from 36 magazines and numerous perfumeries. Black Man by Mexx (Procter & Gamble) was voted best Men's Lifestyle Fragrance.

The brand new bottle was designed specifically for this fragrance in conjunction with Proctor & Gamble and manufactured by Gerresheimer. It has a consistent rectangular shape in deepest black - which harmonizes with the transparency of the glass. This work of art was achieved with a vertical color gradation from deep black to transparent. From the T-shaped closure to well below the angular shoulder section, the bottle is encased in glossy black. Half way down the bottle, the black then gradually starts to disappear. As a result, the heavy black top section appears to float above the transparent glass base, gradually gaining in opacity towards the top of the bottle.
This degradee spray effect on the smooth body provides the framework for further beautiful effects. The transparent glass on the bottom section also reveals the delicate cool blue color of this men's fragrance. The name of the fragrance is printed on the bottle in a color that matches the color of the fragrance - the top left of the black section features 'Mexx Black' in eye-catching, luminous letters.
Gerresheimer Tettau manufactured the bottles in six different formats – three narrower ones for the women's fragrance and three wider ones for the men's fragrance. The proportions of each version are specifically designed for sizes between 15 and 75 milliliters. The DUFTSTARS Award is presented by Fragrance Foundation Deutschland e.V.
