Full Throttle as Glassolutions Makes Olympic Effort

Date: 21 May 2012

Leading commercial glazing repair company GLASSOLUTIONS Installation has deployed a new weapon to beat London’s traffic congestion and ensure it maintains its rapid customer response during this summer’s Olympic Games and beyond.

The company now has the ability - for the first time - to dispatch a rapid-response surveyor across London by motorbike.  This ensures the surveyor can initiate repairs within customer service level agreements despite the traffic congestion – something that is predicted to peak during the Olympic Games and the Jubilee celebrations as a result of the capital’s extra visitors.  Once on site, GLASSOLUTIONS Installation surveyors are able to feed information back electronically to either their Dartford or Kingston-upon-Thames branches for the necessary job processing and manufacturing to commence without delay.

“With events at this summer’s Olympics and the Jubilee celebrations set to generate millions of extra journeys on London’s road network over several weeks, many organisations fear their smooth day-to-day operations could be jeopardised,” says GLASSOLUTIONS marketing director Mike Butterick.

“That’s why we’ve adapted and commissioned a more agile mode of transport for surveyors with our motorbike already on the capital’s streets.  Our customers must have a rapid response to protect their premises, make them safe and secure in the event of glazing damage and importantly keep the ‘open for business’.  For us, that means getting to site quickly and working out-of-hours where required to minimise disruption to trading – not only during the Olympic Games but all year round.”

In addition to its reactive strategy, Saint-Gobain Group company GLASSOLUTIONS Installation is also working with customers to ensure commercial premises are checked well in advance of the games to help avoid the need for summertime repairs during the peak period.

These inspections give building owners, operators and facilities managers the opportunity to have glass and glazing checked for Regulation 14 compliance – a more important requirement than ever to optimise public and staff safety and to minimise litigation risk.

The Olympics-ready service is an extension to GLASSOLUTIONS Installation’s existing 24/7 operation which is supported by a much wider network of Group companies including Jewson, who supply the company with timber and boarding to make safe customer premises.
