Freefoam, a leading manufacturer of high quality roofline and rainwater products for the UK, Irish and mainland European markets manufacture Freeflow, an innovative high quality PVC-U rainwater system designed to meet weather extremes head on.

The result of continuous innovation, the system offers the complete solution to rainwater management.

Climate change is already with us with extremes of weather becoming more frequent. Met office research* has shown that “Buildings in the UK will have to withstand more extreme weather and increased rain.”

High temperatures cause problems, with widely published test results showing that heat absorption can cause dark gutter surfaces to rise 30-400C higher than the surrounding air temperature.  This causes significant expansion, weakens joints and inevitably creates leaks. Freeflow is coextruded with white interiors to ensure heat absorption along the width and length is greatly reduced and therefore creates 40% less movement than a standard system.

For the UK global warming not only means higher temperatures, but increased rainfall.   The Freeflow Deep gutter product provides the solution to these seasonal variations.  With its 116mm depth, it has the capacity to handle 50% more water than the standard half round gutter - up to 3.77 litres per second.  These features also have the added benefit of creating a ‘self cleaning’ effect.  The flow of water builds up which pushes debris from the gutter into the down pipe.

Aidan Harte, Managing Director, summarised “The Freeflow system is designed to ensure reliable performance throughout its life span with a 20 year industry leading guarantee.**  No one can accurately predict how climate change will affect our weather in the future but you can plan for these changes by choosing a product that is guaranteed to still be managing rainwater in 2030.”
