Edgetech Install Second Extrusion Line to Stay Ahead of Demand

Date: 11 June 2009

Edgetech, the only dedicated Warm Edge Technology manufacturer in the UK, has announced the installation of a second manufacturing line at its facility in Coventry.

"We've invested in this second line to stay ahead of the increasing demand for our Super Spacer product," explains Andy Jones, Edgetech's Managing Director. ?As the only UK based dedicated Warm Edge Technology manufacturer, we have achieved sales 20% over our ambitious forecast. But despite this sales growth we're not resting on our laurels. We've continued to invest in our customers with our 360 Business Support package and the Super Spacer Dealership to help existing customers sell more; and in the market with an 'Energy Efficiency in Focus - Revisited' seminar. The installation of a second line at Coventry demonstrates our promise to continue this commitment to the UK market."

Andy continues: "Companies and individuals like to buy British because it gives them a sense of pride, but in today's economic climate, UK manufacture is even more important. Exchange rate volatility has hit companies importing products hard, something those buying British have been largely protected from. Knowing the company that makes a product is based in the UK also offers a sense of security and accessibility, which gives customers the peace of mind they need. Having manufacturing here in the UK allows us to respond to our customers demands quickly and efficiently, this is why we are proud to say that we consistently achieve above 99% deliveries on time first time, something that our competitors who rely on distributors can only dream of."

Gary Shoesmith, Director of Operations at Edgetech gives more detail on the new line: "In 2008 we manufactured 30 million feet of Super Spacer on our first line, but with the second line in place we have the capacity for 3.5 million feet a month on one shift. We intend to add another two shifts by September of 2009 giving us the capability of manufacturing up to 6 million feet per month. Although the majority of our output is going to our UK customers, we are also now supplying Super Spacer to some of our customers in Europe including the Czech Republic and Poland."
