Cambridge, Ohio – September 23, 2009 – In its fourteenth year, the annual Children’s Caravan Teddy Bear Run has exceeded last year’s numbers in terms of donations and participants.

With more than 1,000 motorcyclists, $2,705 in monetary donations and 30,000 teddy bears collected to date for Akron Children’s Hospital, the 2009 Teddy Bear Run on September 20 was considered a great success. Edgetech I.G., along with parent company Lauren International, once again received special recognition during ceremonies for their part and continued support of this worthwhile cause.

Edgetech’s facility manager, Doug Ford, plays a big part in the organization of this event each year, including acting as this year’s emcee at the hospital. “Akron Children’s Hospital is the largest pediatric care provider in Northeast Ohio, providing care to more than 450,000 patients,” Ford said. “I am personally grateful for Edgetech’s support and each employee’s contributions to making the Teddy Bear Run a success. The bears bring comfort to children and families during difficult hospitalizations, treatments and illnesses.”

Brian Rennicker, truck driver for LMI Mixing, another division of Lauren International, drove one of the company’s box trucks to carry many of the donated bears. Employees from Edgetech, LMI and Lauren Manufacturing also participated by riding motorcycles carrying teddy bears during the Caravan, and by donating money and bears at the office. The nearly 50-mile ride began at Adventure Harley Davidson in Dover, Ohio, and finished at the hospital in Akron, Ohio.

Edgetech is already planning to participate in the 15th Annual Teddy Bear Run, which will take place September 19, 2010. For more information or to get involved, visit www.akronchildrens.org.
