Laurence's U.S. Aluminum Division is proud to announce that the Monterey Series Bi-Folding Door System has received the 2014 Crystal Achievement Award in the "Most Innovative Door" category. Presented by Window & Door Magazine, the Crystal Achievement Awards recognize significant innovations and accomplishments in North American window and door design, technology, and manufacturing. The Monterey Series showcases CRL-U.S. Aluminum's commitment to designing products that bolster positive growth and innovation in the window and door industry.

The award-winning Monterey Bi-Folding Door System is a creative solution for residential and commercial applications that creates uninterrupted transformative living spaces, providing spectacular views and striking hybrid environments. The system features a clean, modern design with precision-engineered components that allow the wall panels to slide smoothly with minimal effort. The Monterey can be thermally broken for improved energy efficiency. It is available in a black, white or wood grain powder coat, as well as anodized satin or black bronze, with custom finishes available.

In addition to the Monterey System's features and benefits, CRL-U.S. Aluminum utilized the 3D printing's additive manufacturing (AM) process during the R&D phase to craft more precise prototype components. This enabled CRL engineers to modify and strengthen the Monterey System's design more efficiently than traditional manufacturing methods. 3D printing's faster production process for prototype components enabled CRL-U.S. Aluminum to ultimately engineer, test, customize, and iterate Monterey forms in a matter of hours instead of weeks. This award-winning quality has made a positive impact, changing the way the industry designs and manufactures window and door products.

"C.R. Laurence is dedicated to innovation and providing solutions-based products that push the industry forward in new directions," says Lloyd Talbert, President of C.R. Laurence. "We are proud to receive Window & Door Magazine's Crystal Achievement Award for our new Monterey Series as it shows our commitment to engineering quality architectural systems, and the architects, installers, and end users who trust them."
