Rolling Pivot Allows Monumental Doors to Open Easily,Even in Adverse ConditionsC.R. Laurence Co., Inc. (CRL) will be introducing the company’s latest addition to its extensive architectural hardware line - CRL Balance Door Systems, designed by Wikk - at the upcoming Build Boston (Booth #929).

Armando Rodriguez, the CRL Brand Manager of Architectural Metals, explains, “We now offer a complete line of CRL Balanced Door Systems, utilizing the high performance hardware as designed by Wikk Industries, a leading manufacturer of Balanced Doors for over 40 years. Our new line offers a variety of options including Formed Bronze and Stainless Steel Monumental Doors and Frames, Standard and Monumental Aluminum Balanced Doors and Frames, and Heavy Glass Doors and Frames with or without vertical stiles. All are available in a wide variety of styles and finishes, as well as custom finishes. Balanced Door Hardware designed by Wikk, combined with our Tajima Door Line, allows CRL to offer endless possibilities in design, finish, and functionality.”

Armando continues, “Balanced Doors offer several distinct advantages in many situations, especially when troublesome wind and stack pressure conditions are anticipated. A Balanced Door rotates around a rolling pivot, thus providing the widest possible opening with the smallest swing arc. The door swings 2/3 outward and 1/3 inward. The balanced door concept permits the use of large or heavy doors where ordinary mechanisms cannot do an adequate job of door control. They neutralize wind and stack pressure, providing easy ‘finger-tip’ opening and positive closing. Balanced Doors also prove superior when size, weight, space limitations, and ease of operation are important factors. The simplicity of construction and installation makes CRL balanced doors the ideal choice for remodeling as well as new construction.”

CRL Formed Bronze Monumental Doors and Frames are constructed with “V-Groove” technology to produce “crisp corners” and tight joints. 14 gauge alloy 464 Naval Bronze is used for structural integrity and long lasting performance.

CRL Formed Stainless Steel Monumental Doors and Frames also feature “crisp corners”, and are constructed from 14 gauge alloy 304 or 316 stainless steel. With CRL’s laser cutting capabilities, custom infill panels or overlays can be created.

CRL Standard and Monumental Aluminum Balanced Doors and Frames are available for budget sensitive projects. Offering the look of a formed monumental door at the cost of a clad aluminum door, these are available in a wide variety of designs, sizes and finishes.

Armando concludes, “We can create custom Balanced Doors and Entrances to meet our customer’s requirements. Whenever less force is necessary to operate a door, Balanced Doors are the best choice.”
