Clippers Quay is an ambitious development rejuvenating Salford’s historic docks with a little help from silicone, tape and sealant specialists tremco illbruck.

Comprising 406 apartments, spread across three 9-13 storey buildings overlooking the Manchester Ship Canal, Clippers Quay can also boast retail spaces, a 24-hour gym, undercroft parking and more.

During its construction, illbruck products played an integral part in ensuring the complex will provide outstanding performance for decades to come.

The firm’s high-strength, tear-resistant ME501 membrane was used to provide a high-performance seal between windows and the construction reveal.

Using high-bond self-adhesive strips, it can be quickly and easily attached to windows, then bonded back to the SFS with illbruck’s SP525 low-modulus sealant.

In areas where SP525 wasn’t practical, illbruck’s ME508 self-adhesive membrane was used instead – it’s not only incredibly easy to use, but it can bond to virtually any substrate.

TP600, high-performance illbruck impregnated tape, was used to provide an excellent primary weather seal between the buildings’ windows and brick façade.

And ME315, the company’s highly popular single-sided protection tape, was used to seal joints between the SFS and the concrete structure because of its high bond capability and exceptional water and weather resistance.

“Clippers Quay is a fantastic demonstration of the huge versatility of the illbruck range,” comments Product Manager David Naylor. “Whatever the project, whatever the challenges, we’ve got a sealant product to suit.

“Thanks to a combination of illbruck tapes and sealants, this stunning modern development will now go on to provide decades of outstanding performance – and if you want the same for your next project, don’t hesitate to get in touch.”
