A Clear Future: Decarbonisation Roadmap Workshop 2

Date: 15 October 2014

The aim of the day was to find business-friendly ways to reduce carbon dioxide emissions from glass factories, in order to reduce harm to the environment.

Finding solutions which meet both business and environmental objectives is challenging, and is often seen as the ‘holy grail’.

Delegates discussed options such as using more recycled glass, waste heat recovery and electric furnaces, coming away with a clearer idea of what needs to happen to allow glass companies to adopt these measures.

The findings from the workshop and the feedback provided from delegates and industry will be used to create a decarbonisation roadmap for the UK glass sector.

The glass roadmap is one of 8 roadmaps which are being created by Government, and they will be used to inform policy decisions for the UK’s most heat intensive sectors.
