Berliner Glas receives ISO 5001:2011 certification for its energy management excellence

Date: 20 November 2015

To take responsibility for employees, the environment and society is part of the corporate culture at Berliner Glas.

Protecting the environment and resources has been a central focus for years now – so formulating concrete energy goals and action plans, as well as introducing an energy management system, were the logical next steps. In September of 2015, this energy management system was certified by SQS, the Swiss Association for Quality and Management Systems.  In order to achieve the set goals, a competent energy team was formed and an energy representative was appointed. The main goal of the DIN ISO 50001:2011 standard is to create a systematic framework for improving energy efficiency in the company. The integrated self-image of Berliner Glas ensures that energy efficiency is a priority not just in production, but for the entire company. For instance, energy efficiency is an important decision-making criterion even for procuring systems, components and services.

The distribution and development of energy consumption is systematically measured, recorded and communicated. All of the company’s significant energy users are recorded and evaluated. The established energy goals are reviewed regularly, and every employee is encouraged to suggest ideas and measures that will optimize energy performance.
