The Facade Tectonics Institute (FTI) announces the appointment of Attila Arian as President.

A long-serving member of the Board of Directors since 2016, Arian brings continuity, academic rigor, and industry collaboration to this leadership role.

FTI, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing the art, science, and technology of the building envelope, continues to expand its global reach through research, events, and cross-disciplinary exchange.

“It is a privilege to serve as President of the Facade Tectonics Institute,” said Arian. “As a member-driven organization, our purpose remains clear: to collaboratively improve the built environment—one building envelope at a time. The exchange between research and practice is essential to advancing façade innovation, and FTI provides that critical platform.”

FTI has experienced strong momentum in recent years, with growing membership, expanded committee engagement, and increasing participation across its programs. Arian’s presidency will focus on strengthening this trajectory, deepening industry–academic collaboration, and expanding global participation.

A major milestone during his term will be the FTI World Congress 2026, hosted in partnership with Carnegie Mellon University. The Congress will convene leading architects, engineers, manufacturers, researchers, and students for peer-reviewed research presentations, curated sessions, and interdisciplinary dialogue addressing the future performance of building envelopes.

“Attila’s thoughtful leadership and long-standing commitment to FTI position him exceptionally well for this role,” said Katerina Hojgrova, Executive Director of FTI. “I look forward to working closely with Attila as we continue strengthening our programs, expanding membership, and advancing FTI’s global impact.”

Arian emphasized that membership growth and engagement remain top priorities. “Our strength comes from our members — their research, case studies, volunteer leadership, and advocacy fuel FTI’s impact. I encourage colleagues across the industry to join us and contribute to shaping the future of façade design.”

FTI extends its gratitude to its past leadership, Board of Directors, volunteers, and partners whose dedication continues to support the organization’s mission.
