Abrisa Technologies has acquired Agama Glass Technologies, strengthening its East Coast presence and adding advanced glass etching capabilities to its portfolio.

Abrisa Technologies, a leading provider of custom glass optics and thin film coatings and a subsidiary of HEF Photonics, is pleased to announce the acquisition of Agama Glass Technologies, a market-leading manufacturer of etched anti-glare glass and technical glass processing. This strategic move expands Abrisa Technologies’ manufacturing footprint and adds a fully domestic, vertically integrated solution for chemically etched anti-glare display glass.

Through this acquisition, Agama Glass Technologies customers gain access to a broader range of technologies and engineering capabilities via Abrisa Technologies and the global HEF Group. As part of this international industrial leader, Agama is now even better positioned to meet the highest quality standards and deliver innovative solutions aligned with evolving market needs.

“Joining Abrisa Technologies and HEF Photonics allows Agama to continue delivering the high-quality etched products and glass processing our customers depend on, while greatly expanding our capacity to innovate and respond to new market opportunities,” said Andy Ruefenacht, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Agama Glass Technologies. “We’re excited about the enhanced capabilities and global support this partnership brings.”

Agama Glass Technologies will continue operating under its current name, with no immediate changes to management or operations, ensuring continuity and uninterrupted service to its loyal customer base. Susan Hirst, General Manager of Abrisa Industrial Glass, will collaborate closely with Agama leadership to integrate and enhance processing capabilities.

Agama operates North America’s only high-volume technical glass etching facility. Its flagship product, AgamaEtch, is used in high-performance display and optics applications worldwide. The 85,000-square-foot facility also offers precision glass fabrication, chemical strengthening, and silk-screen printing, serving markets such as avionics, defense, medical, industrial, and touchscreen displays. Combined with Abrisa Technologies’ and HEF Photonics’ thin-film coating and surface engineering capabilities, Agama’s offerings will become even more versatile and scalable.

HEF Photonics also recently acquired Telic Company, further strengthening its position in advanced materials and photonics engineering. Telic adds industry-leading expertise in thin-film deposition, photolithography, and microfabrication for precision optics and MEMS applications. These capabilities complement those of Abrisa and Agama by adding micro-patterning, wafer-level processing, and cleanroom-based optical component manufacturing to the group’s portfolio. Customers across aerospace, biomedical, semiconductor, and display sectors will now benefit from a fully integrated suite of design, fabrication, and coating solutions—backed by HEF’s global resources.

“We are pleased to welcome Agama Glass Technologies into the HEF Photonics group through Abrisa Technologies,” said Jean-Noël Maran, General Manager of HEF Photonics North America. “This acquisition not only expands our geographic reach but also strengthens our technical and service capabilities for customers in high-growth sectors. Agama’s legacy of quality and customer focus will continue—now with the full support and resources of Abrisa Technologies and HEF behind it.”

Andy Ruefenacht will be attending Display Week 2025 in San Jose, where Abrisa Technologies will be exhibiting at booth #539. This event presents an ideal opportunity to connect and explore the expanded capabilities resulting from the Agama-Abrisa partnership.
