Scratches on Low E Glass

I have just installed new double glazing on some of my windows however i managed to scratch the outside surface yesterday when i washed the windows after getting my driveway powerwashed and there must have been a grit residue left behind (What has surprised me was how easily they scratched as my old windows are fine)

I have bought a scratch repair kit on the Net which combines a powder and buff that you put in your electric drill and softly buff away the scratches, I plan to use this at the weekend however i wanted to ask if anybody knew whether in trying to fix the scratches I could in fact make the windows worse

Urgent replies would be most greateful and you can email me direct at

Many thanks

Hi......You have not mentioned how deep the scratches are or what type of powder you have purchased. There is a chance that if it is an abrasive system then you will cause distortion to the glass. Please view our website or contact me at and I will gladly discuss this with you. Cheers Tony
