Does anyone have any information on industry standards relating to NiS inclusion, and detection in airplane cockpit windows? And the avoidance of spontaneous shatterings.

USA Mil. Specs. would not apply to European work. If you want an opinion, in lieu of a standard, I believe that (for aerospace applications) your Specifications should require inspections to preclude the presence of any NiS inclusions large enough to be potentially destructive.
