Which resin is better, Uvekol or GlassLam?

Hi Buddy,

I am looking for a type of resin for laminated safety glass. Now Uvekol and GlassLam is falling to our interests. Could anybody give us a kind suggestion on the difference between those two resins?

Thanks so much.

I just evaluated SaoSA Resin two weeks ago after receiving their free sample.

It is one-component UV cured resin. I think their quality is ok, same as those two brands. The curing time by UV light is about 30 mins in total, about ten minutes longer than Uvekol's. However, their price is pretty good.

I have not tried GlassLam so far. Anyone else has comments on them?

uvekol is one component and UV cured, so you don't have to mix any chemicals yourself and not to worry about temperature, etc. the company (ucb) also seems to be pretty serious about what they're doing

yup, I agree with windowmaker's opinion. It is quite easy to use UVEKOL resin. Moverover, their products cover several categories, such as acoustic resin, colorful resin, bulletproof resin...

However, their pricing is a little bit higher than I expect. For their S series, it is about USD8.00/KG. That is why I am switching to use the other resin. I just placed a order to a China supplier (http://www.uvxm.com), which has helped me cut the cost 50% off.

hello, Lamglass

You are so informative. I wonder if yourself met the delamination problem caused by glasslam resin or not.

No. I never used glassLAM, because it is the resin requiring catalyst added to cure. One of my friends has shown me the glass delaminated, which was produced four years ago. According to my knowledge, most of catalyst is a little bit poisonous, so I just use one-component resin for laminating resin, such as UVEKOL.

After reviewing the specifications of SaoSA resin, it should be good one in market. If you focus on saving cost, their price should be quite attractive for you guys.

Hello Glass-fabricator,

Could you please send the price you got from SaoSA to me? Although they have sent a quotation to me, I am not sure whether there is a room for them to reduce.

Thanks so much for your help. I am about to close deal with them now. Your suggestion must be very helpful for us.

they're both one-component acrylic liquid. The quality and processing method are extremely similar on the basis of my own test. Saosa's price is about half of uvekol's.

for the thickess 4mm/1mm/4mm, SaoSA resin is 91%, which the highest transmission rate I have seen after comparing with dozens of resins.

Hi,
All of you seem to be interested in the UV cured bonding agents. Tape is an integral part of the process as well.
Scapa Tape is in the midst of launching a new line of solid acrylic tapes used in this process. These products will be available in water-clear and translucent and available in 10, 25, 40, 63 and 80 mil thicknesses.

We are looking for a few user to try the products and provide us with feedback on their performance. If interested, please email me with your requirements and we will furnish you with a sample.
