Liquid crystal glass info

I am looking for information on liquid crystal glass and its particular applications. I am eager to speak to manufacturers/distributors who will make their product available here in the United States. Do you know if this has been used in an exterior (ie. curtain wall) application? Are there other products with similar properties that can be used?

Liquid crystal glass is basically a laminated glass with a special interlayer (liquid crystal). Depending if in "on" or "off" state the glass is transparent or non transparent. This glass is manly used in interior applications including partitions, display cases, bankscreens, etc. As an double glazed units can be also used for external applications. I am sure that Saint-Gobain produces this product under the commercial name Priva-Lite. Hope I was helpful.

I think you could also get the product information from HANGLAS which the address is http://www.hanglas.co.kr.
They call thd product SPD.

SPD is dark blue when the power is off. When the power is turned on, it instantly becomes transparent, intelligently varying the amount of light transmitted through the window, creating an atmosphere customized to one's needs without the need for curtains or window blinds.

You asked about alternatives. There is another switchable technology that was commercialized only this year. It is called suspended-particle-device (SPD) technology. It allows you to change the transmission from almost clear to almost dark, and everything in between.
