Stress breakage on bus windscreen

hi all...

need some advise on stress breakage on bus windscreen, it can happen during storage or after installation.
no sign of chips or physical damage on the area. glazing material are by sika and sufficient glazing and curing period of more than 5 hours.

any advise on how to solve the issues...

To open this up a a bit more, there are two type of stresses produced in the windscreens during bending process: tensile in the core and compressive to the edges off the glass. First and foremost after bending the glass requires controlled cooling (annealing) so that acceptable edge compression properties can be achieved. Sufficient Edge Compression is required to create robust windscreen.

Charasteristics of these stresses depend in several factors few of them explained in our earlier posts, generally they can be divided into two categories manufacturing and installation related stresses.

Hi Khairil,

This can be due to certain type unwanted tension in the glass pair, that the lamination process later increases even further, creating this type of "stress breakage". This tension might be caused by bending, un-uniform cooling and large edge-temper.

We also face this type of destruction at times. To this day levels are low, but developing would be good. What is these unwanted tensions Mr.Mika?
