On 14 October 2002, Tyrolit officially opened their youngest affiliate Tyrolit Thai Diamond CO., Ltd. in Rayong Province, Thailand.

The company currently engages 35 employees. As of 2003, more than 70 people will find employment at Tyrolit Thai Diamond.

Grand opening ceremony according to Buddhist tradition
According to Buddhist tradition, the company was consecrated by nine Buddhist monks in the early hours of 14 October.

All employees of Tyrolit Thai Diamond gave their blessings and donations at the house-temple. At 10:30, Mr. Franz Richter held the opening speech, greeted all guests and briefly described the genesis of the company.

He welcomed the Ambassador to Austria, Dr. Georg Zidnaric, the Deputy Governor of Rayong Province, Mr. Pracha Teerat and the Director of BOI-Laem Chabang (Board of Investments), Mrs. Waraporn Choersa-ahd.

Mrs. Waraporn Choersa-ahd from BOI was delighted to welcome another foreign investor among her customers and stressed the importance of 35 new jobs in the region.

Board of Investments is a Thai Government-owned organization serving as an interface between the government and foreign investors. The location of commercial facilities by foreign companies is promoted by means of special incentives and tax relief measures.

Plant erected only within five months
TYROLIT–CEO Jakob Mosser thanked the attending members of the planning and executive team, Alfred Landl, Markus Bosin, Fabio Piras and Franz Richter, for the record-breaking construction and set-up. The production facilities were erected within only five months.

As early as 22 July 2002, circular diamond saws were successfully produced in training and trial productions.

11:09 was the exact time for the ribbon-cutting ceremony which was done by Mr. Pracha Teerat, Mrs. Waraporn Choersa-ahd and Mr. Jakob Mosser. According to Buddhist traditions the exact time and date is very important to a good start and a prosperous future of the company.

Plant Manager Mr. Markus Bosin and Production Supervisor Mr. Vorakun Punthee made a demonstration tour for all guests through the whole plant with production displays explaining each and every working step.

The primary markets for Tyrolit Thai Diamond are Europe and the USA. The company hopes to reach an appropriate market share also in Thailand in the medium run.
