Tecdur® High Security Glazing Axes Smash and Grab Crime

Date: 1 June 2012

GLASSOLUTIONS Installation aims to axe smash and grab crime with the launch of a new high security glass.

TECDUR® enhanced security glass is designed for use in environments where enhanced security is required such as high value retail shop windows including jewellers, designer fashion brands and electrical goods as well as banks, bookmakers, casinos and garage forecourt retailers.  It provides greater security than laminated glass and can withstand multiple blows from an axe or hammer attack - the weapons of choice for smash and grab criminals. A new video has been produced demonstrating the effectiveness of TECDUR enhanced security glass against an axe attack – filmed under controlled conditions at GLASSOLUTIONS’ premises in Rotherham, South Yorkshire The installation of enhanced security glass in retail premises can serve to reduce insurance premiums. Also, importantly for the retailer, the glass is neutral in appearance and allows shoppers to view the window display and does not detract from the shop front design or image.

Mike Butterick, marketing director at GLASSOLUTIONS said: “Smash and grab crime is costing UK businesses, consumers and insurance companies millions of pounds every year.  It is a growing problem but TECDUR enhanced security glass provides a solution, which will help to combat this violent crime.”

The TECDUR product is suitable for single and double glazed windows and doors and is available in large sizes suitable for shop fronts. It can be fitted into new premises and also easily retrofitted on-site into existing door and window frames.  It can also be cut from stock sheets and processed to accommodate different shapes and sizes and specific design features.
