Sika Corporation, Target Market Industry announces the promotion of Carl Tompkins to National Sales Manager – Flat Glass, effective January 02, 2015.

Tompkins was previously Global AGR-Strategic Marketing Manager, and Western Region Manager- Aftermarket.  In his new role Tompkins will manage the USA strategy, execution and growth targets of Sika Target Market Industry in the Flat Glass segment.  

“As an adjacent Market opportunity to the Auto Glass Replacement business, Carl’s background lends itself ideally to accelerated growth of the Flat Glass business,” said Dan Hilliard, Senior Vice President, Industry Target Market USA. “It is our intent to become the preferred supplier of sealant and adhesive products for fabrication and repair within the many businesses that serve both the AGR and Flat Glass Industries.  Carl’s 19 years of success in the Sika AGR business coupled with his extensive knowledge of, and past positions in the glass industry are a natural fit for this position”.

Prior to joining Sika, Tompkins spent 10 years with PPG as Manager of Market Development for the Automotive Glass Division, and was responsible for the introduction and growth of the Automotive Sundries Supply Service.  Carl was also a co-founder of Lynx services, PPG’s former third party administrator division, which is now part of Pittsburgh Glass Works.  Throughout his career in the Auto Glass Replacement Market he is considered as a leader in positive change for the industry, recognized in 2010 as a “legend” by AGRR Magazine.  Among his many achievements, he played an instrumental role in establishment of the AGRRS Standard, served for multiple years on both the AGRSS (now AGSC) board of directors and the AGRSS Standards committee, and has trained thousands of individuals in not only proper auto glass installation techniques but also in value added service programs for their business. Illustrative of his passion and commitment, professionalism and safety, the Auto Glass Safety Council has created an award in his name, given annually.  He has also authored a book titled “Winning at Business” available at Amazon.com. Tompkins holds bachelor’s degrees in both political science and business from Portland State University.
