New to the UK is an aluminium door system from Schüco that delivers improved thermal values, better security and enhanced durability.

Known as the Schüco ADS door, it is available in two versions – heavy duty and standard – and is designed to replace the previous Schüco Royal S range and to integrate perfectly with the Schüco AWS window range.

For fabricators, the new door offers a number of benefits and follows the concept of Schüco AWS windows in that the same inner/outer profile shells are used throughout the range of frame depths, so reducing the need for extra stock-holding.

Schüco ADS HD, the heavy duty version, is available in three depths: 65mm, 70mm and 75mm.  Designed for high-traffic entrances as a replacement for the popular Royal S door, it can be equipped with special new barrel hinges that have been subjected to a punishing EN 12400 test regime in which the door is opened and closed 1 million times.

The new barrel hinges with multi-directional adjustment make it suitable for vent weights of up to 200kg and vent heights up to 3000mm. Compared to the previous Schüco Royal S door, insulation has also been increased but the real improvement is on size, weight and durability. Schüco ADS HD doors deliver security ratings up to EN V 1627 class WK 3 and PAS 23/24 and can use many of the tried and tested Royal S fittings, allowing fabricators to make best use of existing stock.

The standard Schüco ADS door comes in a variety of frame depths – 50mm, 60mm, 65mm, 70mm and 75mm. Having been subjected to cycle testing that involves opening and closing the door 200,000 times (to EN Standard 12400), the door’s reliability and durability are assured.

The ADS version is designed for smaller size and weight doors where higher thermal insulation is important such as side doors and balcony doors; and can accommodate vent weights up to 120kg and vent heights of 2,500mm. It offers exceptionally good ‘U’ values (down to Ud 1.56 W/m2K) as well as EN 1627 WK2 level security.

Both versions of the Schüco ADS door are offered with single or multi-point locking (including a new economical hook lock) as well as panic fittings and can be fitted with surface-mounted hinges, concealed hinges or new barrel hinges. A choice of handles that fit into the existing award-winning Schüco range provides a stylish finishing touch.
