SageGlass makes its TV debut at the International Builder's Show

Date: 20 February 2013

SAGE recently attended the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) International Builder’s Show (IBS) in Las Vegas, which is THE annual event for builders across the country to learn about the latest trends and technologies in the construction industry.

It was quite a show. The energy was palpable across the convention floor, and we were able to network and forge new relationships with some of the brightest professionals in the industry.

But I’ll admit that what made me most excited at IBS was meeting Extreme Makeover host, Ty Pennington, and filming a segment with him for his upcoming series “The First to the Future.”

The new online series will debut soon on NextGen TV. It will chronicle every phase of building a new, sustainable home-of-the-future integrating the latest in next-generation home building concepts. NextGen TV approached us because they wanted a beautiful, cost-effective way to manage glare and heat in the home while maintaining a connection to the outdoors. SAGE will provide approximately 500-square-feet of electrochromic glass to glaze the windows for the project.

We are excited that SageGlass® will be a part of this NextGen sustainable home concept. As building owners become more aware of the energy expenditures solar heat gain and glare control drive, SageGlass becomes a natural fit. Because when you think about it, we put windows in homes and buildings for a reason – to have a view and connection to nature. Yet we then proceed to cover them back up to compensate for solar heat gain and glare.

With SageGlass, the NextGen homeowners will be able to welcome daylight into their house without having to endure the glare, excessive heat and high electricity bills…without losing the view and outdoor connection. We believe this venue will be a great way to show the world an increasingly important glazing technology that dramatically improves the way people experience daylight in their homes.

If you want to watch along, construction of “The First to the Future” home will begin in Florida in Spring 2013 with the reveal in September 2013.
