Research Frontiers Licensee Showcases Mercedes-Benz G400 With Upgraded SPD-Smart Windows At Automechanika 2013

Date: 27 August 2013

Research Frontiers (Nasdaq: REFR) licensee Advnanotech LLC is exhibiting its SPD-SmartGlass aftermarket side windows on a Mercedes-Benz G400 automobile at Automechanika 2013 (Stand O155) being held from August 26-29, 2013 at the Expocentre in Moscow, Russia.

The Mercedes-Benz G400 vehicle is upgraded with Advnanotech’s ADVGlass brand of SPD-Smart aftermarket side windows. The Mercedes-Benz G-Class, G-Wagen or Gelenvagen (cross country vehicle) is a four-wheel drive/sport utility vehicle produced by Steyr-Puch (now Magna Steyr) in Austria for German automaker Mercedes-Benz. The G-Class is the longest-produced Mercedes-Benz vehicle in Daimler’s history with a span of 32 years.

SPD-Smart automotive side and rear windows and sunroofs offer many benefits to passengers in the vehicle. Because of their fast-switching and infinite tunability, they reduce unwanted light and glare, which allows users to more comfortably maintain their views of the outside and to enjoy glare-free viewing of displays and video screens. SPD-Smart automotive glass also minimizes heat build-up inside the vehicle because of their ability to block solar heat gain. They automatically switch to their maximum heat-blocking state when the vehicle is not in use. These features improve a vehicle’s fuel efficiency and reduce carbon emissions. The deep tinting of SPD-Smart windows also gives users instant privacy on demand.

Advnanotech is licensed by Research Frontiers for SPD-Smart architectural and automotive products in Russia and is experienced in the production of electrified glazing products. The company has an infrastructure of representatives in Russia working with its customers including government agencies and construction companies.

Since its license was announced in March 2013, ADV has showcased its SPD-SmartGlass products targeted for aftermarket upgrades of vehicles at the World of Glass Expo in Moscow in May, and now will debut its ADVGlass brand of SPD-SmartGlass at Automechanika 2013, the international exhibition of automotive parts and car maintenance equipment. Held for the 17th time in Moscow, Automechanika 2013 is the leading international business event in Russia and the CIS region for the vehicle parts and servicing industry. This year’s event is expected to draw more than 1,600 exhibitors from nearly fifty countries and more than 15,000 attendees. More information is available from the Automechanika website.
