Quick at Glasstec 2014: a success story

Date: 16 October 2014

Following its mission to develop products which offer a competitive advantage to the glass industry, Neptun is now focusing on the optimization of cycles, giving priority to the specificity of processes and the seamless integration between processing modules and external management systems.

The result is a modular line, composed of elements designed with process times and a return on investment worthy of note.Quickdrill and Quickmill, the two automatic vertical microcenters for the manufacturing of glass doors and for all drilling and milling needs, have been presented at Vitrum 2013 and have met an immediate worldwide success. In less than a year after the launch, Neptun has therefore decided to propose them at Glasstec 2014 as a complete line with improved performance and with the possibility of integration with most common management software systems (A & W, Fenetech, Lisec, Optima, etc).Quickdrill and QuickMill are the "entry level" line of Neptun, with the advantages of a true CNC working center, stripped of some typical features of multifunction centers (automatic tool change, tool presetting - available as an option), at a far more accessible price./span>

The simplicity of the machines, performing each a dedicated process (drilling, milling and grinding) leads to increased reliability and ease of maintenance, while achieving superior speed and performances compared to a multifunction machine.

Ideal for shower enclosures, glass doors, shelves, fittings for offices etc., Quickdrill and Quickmill can be integrated, even at different times, to obtain a complete processing line with an overall productivity which is twice the one of a single working center. Quick, in fact, can perform the two processes independently and contemporary, ensuring for both processes maximum speed and quality. Both machines can also perform in-line different lots contemporarily, maximizing the ROI.

If, on the other hand, you want to meet the latest trends in architecture for infrastructure and commercial buildings which require increasingly large sheets of glass, and pose new challenges for an efficient and secure handling at every stage of processing, Neptun offers the vertical CN line for large sheets Promax and Drillmax.

On display at Glasstec 2014, the CN for drilling and milling will be installed in line with Cornercut CC26 and LV Top: the first corner cutting washing machine. CC26 can perform automatic corner cutting, integrating this operation into the washing phase, leading to optimum speed during the 4 phases of transport, corner cutting, washing and drying. Thanks to the automatic glass measuring system, it is possible to process rectangular glass sheets with different dimensions and thicknesses, at the maximum possible speed without any intervention by the operator.

Neptun reinvents a traditional low value-added but high intensity manufacturing process, releasing it from the use of other machinery and makes it universal, quick and convenient.

Universal, because the system adapts automatically and in a fraction of seconds to the glass size.

Quick, because the transport of the glass and the movement of the heads run with adjustable optimum speed.

Convenient, because now the work is done manually or as an option on other expensive and dedicated machinery. In both cases, we will do the math and show that our system has a very quick return on investment.

Cornercut can be used as an independent machine, or can easily be integrated in machinery manufactured by Neptun, like the LV Top and Superinox vertical washing machines. Cornercut can eventually also be connected to other machines, like the straight-line edgers.

The washing and drying section LV Top, is featured by the concept of a low automation washing machine without compromising the build quality and performance. An excellent product at a low cost.

At Neptun’s booth, you will also see the straight-line edgers:

First of all, the mitering machine Rock 10-45, in its version with the automatic squaring system Edge to Shape (ETS), the data acquiring system with bar-code and independent motorization of the inlet conveyor, to facilitate the loading of big and heavy without slowing down the production process.

Rock 8, Neptun’s smallest straight-line edger, has been conceived with the same strength of the bigger machines, to process glass sheets with thickness up to 40mm and with a weight per linear meter of up to 250kg/ml, making it in fact superior to the standard category of 8 wheels-models in terms of performance, reliability and longevity.

Here are some of the technical features which elevate Rock as a reference point in the glass field:

-Conveyor with pads made of double patented material and interchangeable sliding guides that grant a very long durability.

-Spindles placed in tool-boxes made of cast iron and connected to the motors by transmission belts which ensure an extremely low noise and the lack of vibrations even after many years of use.

-Control panel with PLC with touch-screen on board and electrical cabinet positioning external to the working area with easy access and high protection against humidity.

Finally, we present the new version of the washing machine Tornado HP 1664, made completely in high quality stainless steel, both in the washing and in the drying sections.

Easy maintenance thanks to the upper side opening up to 500 mm and low energy consumption thanks to the ECOSAVE system, which after detecting the presence of the glass sheet on board and its sizes, consequently switches the fan off partially or totally.

Your visit to Neptun’s booth, hall 16 – booth D40, will offer you a new vision on glass processing!
