Quanex to be Bostik’s Sole IG Sealant Distributor in North America

Date: 7 May 2014

Effective July 1, 2014, Quanex Building Products will become Bostik’s exclusive sales force for its insulating glass sealants in North America.

Known as a key innovator of hot-melt butyl edge-seal technologies, Bostik’s products are reputed as the benchmark for consistency, quality and superior flow characteristics for both manual and automated applications.

“We’ve worked closely with Quanex in the UK for more than 10 years, building a strong relationship based on a mutual dedication to quality, service and innovation,” said Chris Alderson, business unit director for Bostik. “We’ve found that we are better together as we are able to provide comprehensive IG solutions from spacer to sealant. This announcement is just one part of our global rebranding efforts and a reaffirmed commitment to growing our market share in North America.”

Quanex will continue to sell Bostik sealants under the Edgetherm® brand name, including Edgetherm 3500 single-part butyl rubber-based sealant, Edgetherm 3400 hot-applied desiccant matrix, Edgetherm 3100 and 3000 one-component hot-melt butyl sealants.

“When we were looking for a preferred sealant supplier we tested a number of products and Bostik’s technologies were by far the best in terms of consistency and performance,” said Larry Johnson, VP of sales, insulating glass systems for Quanex. “We’re happy to offer this level of quality while enhancing service levels to North American customers through one, unified sales force.”

Starting on July 1, 2014, Bostik customers in North American should call Quanex at 800-233-4383 to place IG sealant orders or to make inquiries. Customers can also visit www.quanex.com to locate an IG Systems sales representative or for more information on the Edgetherm product line.
